How to Measure Remaining Daylight With Your Hand..!
If you find yourself lost in a distant desert during your travels and want to know how much time is left until sunset or how much time you have until it gets dark—so you can continue searching for a safe place, plan to camp, or look for a distant destination or settlement—then, for this purpose, stand facing the direction of the sun with your right hand raised in such a way that the fingers are joined, and the palm is facing your face. (As shown in the first part of the image above) The bottommost finger will be parallel to the ground at a place where the sky and the earth meet; this position is called 'Umbra.' The other fingers will be pointing down towards the lower edge of the sun. Now, for each finger, 15 minutes of time will be counted. Starting from the ground or the bottommost finger, count the time, adding 15 minutes for each finger, and you will get the remaining time until the sunset. As seen in the second part of the image above, there are 4 fingers' distance left, so there is one hour left until the sunset. While in the third part, when the position of the sun is above 6 fingers, the image indicates an hour and thirty minutes left until the sunset or darkness falls. This information is crucial for individuals interested in tourism, as it can be helpful in saving one's life or someone else's life.
